General Questions
CCEWOOL rock wool is a rock-based mineral fiber insulation comprised of Basalt rock and Recycled Slag. Basalt is a volcanic rock (abundant in the earth), and slag is a by-product of the steel and copper industry. The minerals are melted and spun into fibers.
CCEWOOL rock wool takes high-quality natural rocks, such as basalt and dolomite, as the main raw materials. The raw materials are melted in the cupola at a high temperature of about 1500 °C and then centrifuged into fibers at a high speed by a four-roll centrifuge. Meanwhile, a small amount of phenol resin with water repellent and emulsified oil is sprayed at the surface of the fabric. Under the action of negative pressure air, the newly formed rock wool fibers are quickly accumulated into felt. Through pendulum, pleating, pressurizing, and curing, the felt is processed into rock wool boards, rock wool felt or rock wool shell, etc. according to the requirement of customers.
Rock wool and slag wool are different products. The main component of slag wool is slag, which has the characteristics of high shot content, low melting point and low acidity coefficient. Therefore, the thermal conductivity of slag wool is higher, and there will be serious heat shrinkage in case of fire. Generally slag wool cannot be used in projects that have fire protection requirement. Moreover, the slag wool cannot meet the requirement of buildings’ external insulation composite system. So it cannot be applied to buildings’ external thermal insulation composite system.
CCEWOOL rock wool products are inorganic which provide no food source for mold to grow. CCEWOOL rock wool products are tested to ASTM C1338 – A Standard Test for Determining Fungi Resistance – and passes with zero fungal growth.
CCEWOOL rock wool insulation comes in one standard natural colour. Some products are available for facing of aluminum foil or black colours. Please contact us for facing details.
CCEWOOL rock wool can fully meet all the requirements of tensile strength, water absorption, durability and thermal insulation performance, and it is a grade A non-combustible material. In most cases, the insulation performance of rock wool is comparable to that of polystyrene board, and even exceeds the insulation performance of polystyrene board in some cases.
CCEWOOL rock wool should last the lifetime of your building if installed in a properly designed system according to spec. CCEWOOL rock wool will not decay since it is inorganic, so they will retain their properties assuming no physical damage occurs.
CCEWOOL rock wool products have a high melting point of 2150°F and can operate at high temperatures. We do not currently have tested assemblies for these applications. The recommended commercial or industrial CCEWOOl rock wool product will depend on the temperature and usage of the stove/oven. Please contact us find specific products.
CCEWOOL rock wool products are produced to accommodate standard construction practices. Common Sizes are1200x600mm at a variety of thickness depending on product. Larger and custom sizes can be produced however minimum order quantities are usually required.
At the primary stage of building plants, CCEWOOL already began to invest in Italian imported production equipment of international production standards. The rock wool production line capacity is 6t/h; surfaces can be overlaid with paper, glass fabric, or aluminum foil. All the raw materials are controlled by fully automatic batching equipment. We use advanced four-roller centrifuge to produce rock wool fiber. And CCEWOOL products are produced in accordance with EU EG standards. Products are packaged by automatic heat-shrink packaging machines with heat-shrink film that has good penetration resistance and shrinkage. Every step of production has reached the standard of an international top brand in the rock wool field.
External wall insulation system refers to the use of certain fixing methods (bonding, mechanical anchoring, spraying, pouring, etc.) to fix the thermal insulation material with a lower thermal conductivity (good thermal insulation performance) to the building wall to increase the average thermal resistance of the wall, so as to achieve an thermal insulation effect.
The rock wool external wall insulation system has the advantages of low thermal conductivity, good breathability, and high fire resistance level, etc. It can be applied to energy-saving insulation projects of buildings , including external wall insulation, non-transparent curtain wall insulation and fire barrier for EPS external wall insulation systems. It can be used together with thermal insulation materials that is not Grade A non combustible to improve the fire protection functions of the external walls of buildings. Rock wool is an excellent thermal insulation product for external wall thermal insulation composite systems. Because rock wool is non-combustible, it is also regarded as the first choice material and solution for high-rise buildings insulation and fire protection. The polyurethane foam insulation products is flammable and may cause great risk and damage to people and property, so Europe and the United States do not allow the use of polyurethane foam insulation products in high-rise buildings.
Building fires are terrible things that no one wants to see. Rock wool is an inorganic material of silicate fiber and is non-combustible. It is thermal insulation material with Grade A non combustibility. When using rock wool fireproof insulation board in building insulation, both thermal insulation and fire proof performance are guaranteed.
CCEWOOL rock wool has moisture resistance and steam permeability. In the event the rock wool products get wet, when thoroughly dried, it will restore its original performance and characteristics. CCEWOOL rock wool products are water repellent, which means that the water in contact with the outer surface of rock wool products will be lost and will not be absorbed.
The following points need to be done for the fire protection of external wall insulation. One is to strictly implement various fire protection regulations. Choose the right insulation materials, take good fire protection measures at the initial stage of the use of insulation materials, and monitor the construction process at the intermediate stage of the use of insulation materials to prevent the possibility of various fires.
In Germany, for high-rise buildings of more than 22 meters, rock wool has a market share of 100% in exterior thermal insulation composite systems. In all applications of external thermal insulation composite systems, rock wool has a market share of 5.6%, but this statistical result includes the most common building in Europe: low-rise single-family houses, which is not comparable to the high-rise building structures prevailing in China.
Of course not. Some organizations (such as the World Health Organization) have conducted a lot of research on whether rock wool fibers are carcinogenic, and the results clearly show that rock wool fibers are not carcinogens. The results of the study are: "Insulated glass wool, continuous glass wool, rock wool and slag wool cannot be classified as human carcinogens (Class 3)." The research on the carcinogenicity of rock wool is well known, and these research reports are public. In addition, as far as health issues are concerned, we are not aware of any restrictions on the application of rock wool.
All or most of the production waste of modern factories is recyclable, and after a small amount of waste is processed, the emissions will be reduced to the minimum level. The amount of energy saved by using one unit of rock wool is several time more than the consumption of energy when producing it.Producing 1 kg of rock wool consumes about 20 MJ of energy, while producing 1 kg of polystyrene board consumes at least 85 MJ. The raw materials for producing polystyrene board are basically fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas while the production of rock wool only requires the use of very common rocks (basalt), and its available reserves are almost unlimited.
