In almost all industrial fields, containers are a major component of various procedures and devices. Many production processes require different substances to be stored in containers so that they can be used in a single process of later procedures. Containers primarily store liquid, solid or gas materials, which will be added to required processes. Raw materials, fuels or end products are usually stored in large storage tanks.
Storing substances within a certain temperature range is generally important. If the temperature is too high or too low, the substances may deteriorate, become solid, or lose their fluidity, making them unable to be pumped or discharged; therefore, insulation is a major factor in the procedural processes.
Insulation purposes
1. Reducing heat loss
2. Ensuring the protection against contact by reducing surface temperature
3. Reducing the cooling of stored substances to keep them fluid instead of curing
4. Preventing containers from freezing (using other tracers)
5. Preventing heating of stored substances (e.g. by solar radiation)
