Insulation rockwool is widely used in various industries such as construction, metallurgy, chemical industry, electric power, petroleum, agriculture, machinery, light industry, textile, military industry, transportation, storage, etc. The application of insulation rock wool in the agriculture will be introduced below.
4. Agricultural applications
The application of insulation rock wool in the agricultural field has been developed with the continuous maturity of soilless cultivation technology, and has a history of more than 100 years. With China's large-scale promotion of greenhouse facilities, China has also become one of the countries with the largest facility agriculture development speed and existing greenhouse area in the world.
Agricultural
insulation rock wool is made of about 60% basalt, 20% coke, 20% limestone, plus a small amount of slag. These raw materials are melted at high temperature, and finally compressed and solidified to a specific density, then cut into required size. In this process, a bonding agent with surface hydrophilic effect is added, which make the rock wool has good hydrophilicity. The density of agricultural insulation rock wool is small, generally 60~80kg/m³, which has 3% fiber and 97% pores by volume, so it has good air permeability and water retention. After being refined at a high temperature of 1600 degrees Celsius, it is sterile and pollution-free, making it the best substrate material for soilless cultivation.
