2. Difference of water resistance between insulation basaltwool board and slag wool board
The crystallization area of insulation basaltwool board is CS-C2AS-C2S (wollastonite alumnus anorthite anorthite), which does not have hydraulic properties and changes little after meeting water, making insulation basaltwool board have good water resistance. The crystallization area of slag wool board is CS-C2AS-CAS2 (wollastonite alumnus dicalcium silicate). The structure of dicalcium silicate reacts with water during production with increasing temperature, which will reduce stability of slag wool fiber in wet environment.
Insulation basaltwool board belongs to mineral fiber with particularly stable water resistance, while slag wool’s water resistance can only be moderately stable or unstable
